Fantastic analysis. So clear cut. Puts into words what I've been slowly realizing. Your like a sage who speaks things first while others are still scratching their heads.
On a related note, I think the og gays feel bad shutting the door behind them. So it can be hard to push back unless they've done a deep dive or hit peak trans.
That and a lot of gay people are jumping on board as nb or trans masc etc. The calls coming from inside the house too.
Yeah, they’re eating themselves alive, all this infighting. Trans activists are clashing with traditional feminism (biological women) and the gay community. Black Americans, too. Pew says 66% of Black Americans believe sex is immutable and assigned at birth. What do we do when dozens of groups all collide into each other? Stand back and watch the self-immolation I guess.
Very good essay. I wrote about how this is all being used to manufacture consent (politics). It hurts everyone. Hurts gay rights, women's rights, children's rignts, you-name-it rights.
This is one of the more popular ones. There is a link in the essay to an article which discusses the politicizing of transgender ideology at length in a scholarly manner.
One of the artists who has come under fire for supporting women's and homosexuals' rights put an open question on her website, asking how the current situation has affected her readers / customers. The most poignant quote I remember was a lesbian saying how painful it was to realize how much heterosexual people hate her. I was so suspicious when the narrative changed seemingly overnight from "they're perverts" to "I accept gay people," and it has become apparent that nothing really changed except an external costume. My state senator is a perfect example: He harassed gay boys when he was in high school and now he's fully onboard with transgenderism.
No, apologies for that. I was referring to myself. It was simply a labeling insight for myself after reading your article. I’ve come to accept that a large number of people will label me transphobic and by their crazy definition of the word, I guess I am. Another label for myself I might try out: “sex positive, gender negative” Thank you for your very insightful writing Shannon!

You are too kind!

But I'm with you on this one.

So full of quotable pithy sentences that wrap it all up!

This breaks my heart.
I still feel that way months after reading the comment.
Gayphilic and transphobic.
Are you referring to me? Your profile says #teamterf, so that would imply you're the "exclusionary" one.
I might well be gayphilic, though.
