Thank you. Given that my former political party calls objections to pediatric gender medicine "hate speech" and discussion of the adverse effects of these drugs and surgeries "misinformation," you would think that the thousands of families living this nightmare just don't exist. It's infuriating, and it's a betrayal of the very people who are the supposed recipients of "Be kind."

It's patent medical fraud. Almost all of these kids are not going to live as long as their peers, or as well.

Arguably some of the best writing on Substack.

From Atul Gawande to Oliver Sacks, Carole Hooven to Abagail Shrier, Armand Marie Leroi and Steven J Gould science writing which is both compelling, accurate, without sensationalism and human in its story and impact is wonderful to encounter.

It’s difficult to not fall into lists of facts but create a narrative from it to bring you through thoughts and facts to a conclusion. You do that without the artificial person or metaphorical sequence, I’m grateful. But I’m apprehensively awaiting part 3. What’s the end?

I’m also terribly aware that we’re speaking of children through this atrocity, in you’re writing. You convey an innocence which is often lost in the shuffle.

And also, an infernal quality to the process, as through the children were turned inside-out, as in a horror movie series, and left one by one writhing on the hospital bed to die, while adults, blind glassy eyes and rictus of a smile nod to each other as in a painting by Bosch. Only not a painting or a movie.

You also convey the dread without sensationalizing it - as a male I felt dread reading this sequence years ago. In a world where men are bombarded by charlatans for penile enlargement ads, these future men will live locked into childlike impotent endowment. The dread seeing the superb performance of Kirsten Dunst as Claudia the vampire was locked into despair of her child body in “Interview With the Vampire”, screaming at Lestat. I feel these children screaming at adults, you made me this.

Only Armand Marie Leroi managed to walk through similar numbing material without losing human quality, in his “Mutants: On Genetic Variety and the Human Body”.

This doesn’t come across as polemic either, also a tricky act to pull off. It’s more like a description of a truth and reconciliation commission, where we must face what we have done.

You also leave the reader with utterly clear unstated questions - if this works so poorly, why is it done? Who is accountable for atrocity - as we all can see it for what it is, why don’t we act? And the worst questions - will it end, when is enough enough? It gives a Sisyphean quality, as with all extreme plastic surgery or “body modification” - and we are speaking of extreme sexual body modification practiced on children. It’s never enough, it can never be enough, once started it won’t stop, and there’s only.

Orwell doesn’t begin to describe this.

Wow. Thank you. I am humbled.

Your comment is arguably among the best writing on substack! Invoking Claudia the vampire--I had forgotten about that. True horror.

Part 3 is on the lack of standards. It waits for me to free myself from a brutally busy spell at my day job.

Thanks again.

This is great stuff, although it's also horrifying.

Among the worst things about these procedures are the euphemisms we've adopted to describe them: bottom surgery and top surgery. I suppose this should not surprise me; after all, gender ideology is full of linguistic legerdemain intended to make the fantastic seem sensible.

For myself, I refuse to go along with this whitewashing. Adults who want to cut off healthy tissue in a quest to feel normal can use whatever terms they like, but I'm not going along with it. We've had entirely too much "going along" in this area of public policy.

Yes, even the word “affirming.”

This young woman transitioned herself to death in a futile quest to pee standing up. Despite every "treatment" available to turn her into a man, her gender dysphoria never resolved, and she wasted most of her all too short life so self-involved in her own misery, she never crafted a functional life. https://lucyleader.substack.com/p/rip-griffin-sivret

Excellent article on what happened there.

"I really want you to consider that at the start of her “transgender journey”, she was a healthy 13-year-old girl, who with the assistance of multiple hospitals, doctors and clinics and either parental or “informed” consent, was made increasingly unwell to the point that her body could no longer cope with the continual assaults from her “gender affirming care”."

Thank you for laying this out clearly in one place. When people start to flip out as the new administration cracks down on this, I’ll be able to refer them here for factual information.
